3 Levels of Support
The Men’s Development Network (MDN) works with men on a local regional, national and international level. Our mission statement is “Better lives for men, Better lives for all.” MDN are the national promoters of the White Ribbon Campaign in Ireland. It is the world’s largest male-led movement to end men’s violence towards women.
The White Ribbon Campaign works to change attitudes and behaviours that lead to men’s violence against women and an instrumental aspect of this is to work alongside organisations who support this and who share the same values and goals. With the help of supporters, the White Ribbon Campaign can grow the influence and reach of the work for White Ribbon and, most importantly, act to achieve the goal of stopping men’s violence against
The White Ribbon Campaign benefits from using an Ambassadors Programme that supports thousands of men to be the faces and leaders of the campaign, by living the White Ribbon Commitment, “never to commit, excuse, or remain silent about, violence against women.” There are businessmen, community members, sportsmen, judges, lawyers, trade union leaders and politicians already working in their networks and social circles in order to inspire this change.
Ambassadors demonstrate their commitment in many different ways. A white ribbon can be worn on the 25th Day and others are encouraged to do the same. They can share the White Ribbon message within their networks and through social media. It is necessary to highlight the importance of respect for women and attitudinal change and also to host, speak and/or attend awareness raising and fundraising events.
If you could become passionate about the White Ribbon cause and would like to do more than make the White Ribbon Commitment, we would like you to consider becoming an Ambassador. An Ambassador is a leader and face of the Campaign and one who incorporates White Ribbon values into their daily lives. Any person can be a White Ribbon Ambassador and use their influence to affect change within their social and professional circles and beyond.
Organisations play a pivotal part in preventing violence against women. Partnerships are key to ensuring the success of preventing
violence against women in a way that is sustainable, strategic and effective. The White Ribbon Campaign works to change attitudes and behaviours that lead to men’s violence against women and an instrumental aspect of this is working alongside organisations that share the same values and goals.
